SEAMIS

The Kansas Department of Education Student Support Services Team uses reports in the SEAMIS database application to obtain the Childcount Tables and OSEP Placement (a.k.a., FAPE or LRE)Tables. These same OSEP Placement/FAPE reports can be used by LEAs to measure the number of students in the various OSEP designated categories of placement.

The Users Guide section below contains instructions on Installation, Data Verification, Discipline Data, and the creation of Childcount and LRE reports. Instructions are included for exporting the individual students and their FAPE category to a program such as Excel. LEA SEAMIS uses data the LEA's LEAMIS database from FY 2005 and FY 2006.

Important:

Your data is stored in your SEAMIS Data File(s).  Macintosh users: you have one file and it ends in .data.   Windows users: you have two files; one ends in .4DR and the other ends in .4DD.
- Do not delete your data file(s).   This rule applies when updating your SEAMIS application. If you have questions about how to download and install the SEAMIS Application, see the the instructions for installing SEAMIS.

- At a minimum, backup your data file(s) to an external source such as a CD. Backing up you entire SEAMIS folder is will take up more space.  But will result in an easeir restore, if needed.

Do not change the name of any of the files or folders.
Do not delete any files or folders.
Do not make copies of the files or folders on your hard drive.
